Maynard the Lion
Many people wonder how BRAVE BARISTA COFFEE CO. was born, and why we chose the BRAVE name. It all started out in 2017 when a painter, with a passion for art, opened The Fearless Painter focused on 2 Timothy 1:7 which reads:
-----
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
-----
As we embarked on building this new coffee brand in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, we looked at different avenues for names, but something that kept us focused on Biblical truth. After running through names BRAVE BARISTA COFFEE CO. was born! We knew that to be FEARLESS meant that we had to be BRAVE and dive right into our key focus with our coffee brand. And who gives us the STRENGTH so that we can be BRAVE? None other than the Lion of Judah, Jesus.
-----
Isaiah 11:6:
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them."
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them."
-----
Isaiah 65:25:
"
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
The lion shall eat straw like the ox,
And dust shall be the serpent’s food.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,”
Says the Lord."
The lion shall eat straw like the ox,
And dust shall be the serpent’s food.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,”
Says the Lord."

To focus on the lion, we worked to find the element of pure bravery, and came across the name Maynard -- the name of our BRAVE BARISTA COFFEE CO. mascot, as well as a strong meaning with the name. Maynard means STRENGTH, BRAVERY, STRONG and HEARTY.
-----
Maynard is our mascot, and is seen on every label of our BRAVE BARISTA COFFEE CO. - he signifies the broken shell of each of us through the colors of his mane, and the look in his eyes gazing out into the world. In turn, we understand our view and give ourselves back to the Lion and the Lamb, and for this, we are thankful.
